TOKYO, JAPAN and MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – January 14, 2002
ZipLip, Inc., the leading provider of software for management of corporate intelligence, has delivered and installed a Japanese version of its secure messaging and secure file access and sharing applications at Furukawa Information Technology Corp. (FITEC).
FITEC is a Tokyo-based, 100% subsidiary of Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd and is responsible for the infrastructure and maintenance of the entire Furukawa Group's information technology systems which support over 8,000 employees in Japan. Upon Furukawa's recent $2.3 billion acquisition of the optical cable business of Lucent Technology, ZipLip's secure access, storage, messaging and collaboration products allows FITEC to extend secure messaging, file access and collaboration to the Group's operations on a worldwide basis.
In addition to the Group's company-wide implementation of the ZipLip platform, FITEC also plans to provide ASP (application service provider) services to the general enterprise market. ZipLip software includes a strong offering for service providers for controlled communications, storage, access, distribution and sharing of sensitive data.
"FITEC needs to provide secure communications, and file access and sharing over the Web, but with careful policies governing who can access which data, when, and what can be done with it," said Kon Leong, ZipLip President and CEO. "Our platform does all this and with detailed audit trails. In addition, our 100% Java and J2EE-based technology enables our software to quickly adapt to user needs in Japan, including secure wireless delivery via I-mode and WAP.
